Andrew Shapiro is a founding partner of Shapiro & Gellert, PLLC. Prior to forming the firm, Andrew worked in the Real Estate Group of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, first as an associate from 1997 through 2005 and then as a partner from January, 2006 until forming Shapiro & Gellert in May of 2009. 

Andrew’s practice is focused on counseling real estate developers and operators, opportunity funds, and institutional investors in joint ventures, acquisitions, ground-up developments, financings, restructuring and dispositions of all real estate classes, from multi-family/mixed-use residential complexes (including federal and state regulated housing projects), class A and B office buildings, class B shopping centers to super-regional malls.  Andrew is an ardent advocate for his clients while at the same time, working towards practical solutions to close deals in an efficient and cost effective manner. 

Andrew received his J.D., summa cum laude, in 1997 from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member of the Brooklyn International Law Journal, and was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for Corporate Finance and International Law. Andrew received his B.A. in 1994 from The American University. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association.
