Michael Gellert is a founding partner of Shapiro & Gellert, PLLC. Before founding the firm, Michael served as an associate for over seven years, first in the Real Estate Group of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP and then in the Real Estate Group of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Subsequent to working at Akin Gump, Michael was a legal consultant to the Real Estate group of Avenue Capital Group. Michael’s practice is focused on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, with particular emphasis on acquisitions, dispositions, development, joint ventures, financing, restructuring and office leasing.
Michael received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 1998 from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member of the Brooklyn Law Review, and was the recipient of the Corpus Juris Secundum Award and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Property. He received his B.A., cum laude, in 1995 from the State University of New York at Albany. Michael is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
